First day in the Bag

About to call it a day. And a wonderful day it was. Woke up to an amazing place. Right out our window is an incredible view of a mountain peak, usually veiled in a cloud. I was reminded of the amazement when you get to a camp site at night and then wake up the next morning to a whole new world you never expected. The most beautiful blessing was Haley's words knowing she was going to be ok. What a scare!
Food has been wonderful. Rice and beans are at every meal but wonderful vegetables, fruits and some sort of tasty protein. Their juices here are watered down compared to the states but so refreshing and REAL! After breakfast it was off on our first hike. A mile journey with one of the resident naturalists. What beautiful creations God has made here. So many unique plants and critters. Will have some pics tomorrow. Sarah was most impressed with the Leafcutter ants.
We had a meeting to discuss our homestays tomorrow and our first project. Looks like we are helping a community plan a conversion of an existing soccer field to a multi-purpose area. Should be fun.
Lunch was great after wearing ourselves out on the hike then it was to some well earned naps. Some fierce ping-pong, Foosball and goofing around got us to dinner and then a movie about the Monteverde cloud forest. A cup of tea on the porch and here I am, calling it a day.
Thank you God for watching over Haley and making a body that has amazing powers to heal. I praise you today for your amazing creativity, making ants travel what must be miles to them to find just the right leaf, not to eat, but to pile up and create just the right fungus they need to survive. A community of ants sometimes 8 million strong.
